Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A query entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the name or case number and supplies its result. Jefferson County Court Docket does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. We keep the message within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Page requests can automatically provide routine technical information to the hosting systems:
- Page-view times and visit duration
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Pages requested during the visit
- A referring site, when one is supplied
- The IP address used for the request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics services combine that activity into reports. A browser can block cookies, although disabling them may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a submitted query to the selected search provider
- Find and correct technical faults
- Measure which resources are useful or need revision
- Operate the website and improve loading performance
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Jefferson County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal case information or court records. It publishes general directions to the Birmingham and Bessemer Circuit Clerks, Alabama trial courts, Probate Court, Municipal Courts, and official search services. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search boxes. Their privacy policies govern information submitted to those tools, including retention and disclosure. We cannot control a partner's practices, so review its policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links can lead to Circuit Clerk pages, court portals, Alabama search systems, legal-aid resources, or private tools. Once you leave this website, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review them before providing personal information.
An advertising provider may use its own systems to measure activity across websites and select relevant ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be received by:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query you choose to submit
- Advertising networks placing material on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, however, and this policy does not promise that a breach is impossible.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. Information identified as a minor's will be removed when a valid request brings it to our attention.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Alabama privacy and consumer-protection law may provide additional rights. The Alabama Public Records Law, Code of Alabama Sections 36-12-40 through 36-12-45, and Alabama Rules of Judicial Administration 30 and 33 govern access to public court material. Those rules concern government records and do not turn this private site's analytics data into an official court file. At a minimum, you can:
- Request access to personal information held about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law permits it
- Decline eligible forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as services or legal duties change. A replacement takes effect when posted here with its new date.
